Wahi Lani: A Tranquil Retreat in Kauai, Hawaii

Located near the picturesque Hanalei Bay in Kauai, Hawaii, Wahi Lani is a hidden gem accessible via a single road, nestled amidst lush jungle-clad cliffs and cloud-kissed peaks. The architecture of this serene retreat harmonizes with its breathtaking natural surroundings, providing an ideal haven for both living and leisure.

The U-shaped design of Wahi Lani, crowned by a sloping shed roof and adorned with clerestory windows and floor-to-ceiling glass, seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor spaces. The heart of the home lies within the courtyard and lanai, cocooned between walls dressed in the subtle allure of Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese charred wood finish.

Honey-hued wooden slats embellish the facade, radiating warmth that extends to the inviting ipe wood deck. From this vantage point, residents can bask in the beauty of the island or take a refreshing dip in the pool, surrounded by the tranquility of Hanalei Bay.

Inside the 4,156-square-foot abode, the exterior’s charred wood walls extend, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, while a playful array of colorful accents infuse the neutral palette with vibrancy and charm.

More than just a residence, Wahi Lani serves as an elevated surf shack and a gathering place for the community, with expansive front gates that invite neighbors in and ensure privacy when closed.
