Commercial Architecture, Commercial Interior Design, Restaurant + BarBangkok, Thailand, 2024-07-22 -French Kitsch III draws inspiration from its name, blending ‘French’ elegance with ‘Kitsch’ playfulness. As a specialized French patisserie, the cafe integrates the owner’s love for French bulldogs into its identity. The design celebrates imperfection, reminiscent of a croissant’s irregular shape.
The French cathedral architecture informs the rhythmic, asymmetric arches used throughout. Imperfect arches of varying sizes adorn the first and second levels, creating an antique-modern ambiance with interplay of light and shadow. Oversized arches connect spaces vertically, emphasizing a full-function counter visible across floors. Upstairs, voids carved into inverted curves allow natural light while shading effectively.
Textured concrete enriches the concept of imperfection, reflecting the material’s raw beauty. This choice highlights furniture, decorations, and LED lighting against the arches, enhancing the cafe’s memorable aesthetic.
